Chirk Castle gates - 4.5.2016

I had gone to visit my mother this particular day, on arrival she had asked to go to Chirk for a small ride out and call for chips on the way. As we were out and by time we would of got back to her house they would of been cold so she suggested to go and park outside the gates of Chirk Castle. When finished I got out of the car and decided to photograph the workmanship of the gates.

This is the exit from the castle.

The wolves standing guard on each side of the gate.

The eagle

The gates detail is taken from the Myddelton family coat of arms.

There was a stone with more details about the gates, but I hadn't taken a photo of that unfortunately.

In 1888 the gates were moved for the third time to where we see them today.

The large pillars that hold the wolves on top.
