Rhyl Air Show - 1.9.2013

For this post I'd like to include this quote below,
which is dedicated to a much loved and missed family member,
who was taken away suddenly.

He would have enjoyed being at this event with me.

I had arranged to meet 2 of my uni friends at this event and although it was a 2 day event, on the Saturday the weather  was a nice blue sky and fluffy white cloud day but the Red Arrows only performed on the Sunday.

We worked our way through the crowd to the area where it was being held, stopping off for a coffee to warm me up as the sea wind was very nippy on the front!  Amongst the many different food areas there was a "£1" bakery which sold many things as well as sandwiches. Ironically I hadn't heard of such a place and was delighted with my bargain baguettes I had bought for lunch.

We headed to find a good photographic spot on the beach and waited with the rest of the crowd for the show to start.

I found this day a challenge as a photographer due to the dark cloudy skies and quickness of the planes' flight. Overall I am pleased with the results I did get, despite the weather conditions.

The RNLI lifeboat charity were also present at the event

There was an array of planes from RAF Falcon, Dakota (BBMF), Hurricane, Spitfire and many more

This plane's engine roar was heard before we saw it; also very hard to capture!

On the above image you can just make out the pilot saluting to the crowd

This was so dinky after seeing the larger ones

The fuel emissions made the display interesting to watch

These were cool to see with their aerobatics routine

The crowd was electrified when they saw the red arrows

The finale of the show was saved until the Sunday, which was the 'Red Arrows'
What an end display it was too! I could feel the excitement in the crowd. The almost deafening sound of the engines' turbos as the crowd below made noises of awe at the death-defying stunts.

The visuals of the coloured emissions was an added bonus to the show, especially when a love heart was made in the skies above, with an arrow through the middle by 3 separate planes.

We stopped to take a picture of this sculpture before heading for a last coffee to warm us up before departing our separate ways home.

This lonely shell was spotted on the beach in the middle of the crowds feet managing to miss getting trampled on
