Putting a portfolio together ( Pt 8 of 12 )

He started off telling us a little about himself, how he had once himself studied in Glyndwr's University at Regent Street doing  design Craft jewellery. After many years of studying he took six years out and worked for many different artists and designers. He's not a photographer or sculptor, he just uses these wherever relevant. He handed out his portfolio of images that were relevant at the time of the 90s. There was also a slide show that we were shown of work that he had completed.

Hints and tips

  • Things that interest you may or may not interest the people who are you going to have an interview with despite this they are still learning about you.
  • Try to stand out and be different from everybody else.
  • Think about the order that you put things in, for impact and maybe storytelling.
  • Laminating your images will keep them clean, free from grease on people's fingers and spills.
  • Try to have a strong beginning, middle and end in your images.
  • Invest in yourself.
  • Try to generate publicity for yourself, and keep a record of it to show as proof.
  • It is important to apply for things even if you get rejected.
  • Think about it who you are showing it to.

Content - 7/10

There was lots of different media such as slide shows, film and a portfolio of his work being handed round

Delivery - 3/10

It became very flat, although humour was thrown in, as time went on it became a drone of self-centred achievement.
I persisted for as long as I could, luckily being sat by the door  15 min before the end I made my escape.

Interest - 5/10

The visuals are I saw I enjoyed as well as some of the hints and tips which I have included. Other than that I just wanted to a fall sleep or be engaged in something less boring.
