FFresh with Berwyn Rowlands ( Pt 7 of 12 )
FFresh is a student Festival for Wales which Berwyn founded and he has also produced content which was broadcasted on S4C, ITV and the BBC, this also includes projects for radio. Glyndwr University has also won prizes for animation and live action films.
FFresh was established in 2002 it is a link between students and the industry and also an opportunity for future talent, which companies are always looking out for, to embrace. The Festival also facilitates between the talented and the companies winning an award - even nomination or being short listed for one helps to raise your profile. Berwyn was always asking questions to try to get feed back off the students and to raise their awareness. There was a good point made which was people within film, TV and animation industries don't always get to see what others are making within their own industries and it is important to keep up to date with this and see who was short listed or nominated etc. just to get a feel for what material is about. To help enhance the information to students they do actually screen the short listed films. It is a good way to self evaluate and ask yourself the questions " Is my work good enough and is this the right industry for me"?.
The talk went on to tell us about the benefits that the Festival will bring us. While it is with Glyndwr, such areas as ushering, looking after guests and if you are lucky you may get time to have a 1- 2 -1 talk with people in industry. During this period there are also opportunities for other areas to get involved in the FFresh Festival at Glyndwr with posters and design work, trailers and adverts.
Sometimes I felt a little sorry for the speaker as it seemed like he was pulling teeth, getting information from the audience yet despite this when the questions were changed around a little then answers were more forthcoming. This led to questions such as, " Who's in a band, does anyone keep a blog, made or been involved in film making"? All the information was relevant to getting to know how companies look into what you do and have done. Marketing strategies were discussed and how you ought to be methodical and strategic more in what steps to take to make sure you are a success. Going to Festivals is also a good way to make direct connections and this can be more beneficial than sending a CV to them.

Content - 7/10
Although there were leaflets and books to take away with you at the end there was no visuals, just a formal chat. Despite this It stood on its own in away that there was no need for anything more and the audience looked captivated.
Delivery - 10/10
Very informative and gave students more of an insight into how to get known and prepare your steps now.
Interest - 7/10
I found this interesting and came away with more of an insight into FFresh and what does go on in the film Festival area also how Wales are placed more on the map due to this.
